In 2024, Nathan was the Founder and CEO of Scape where he led the development of coastal seawater facilities that sequestered CO2 from hard-to-abate sectors while producing critical metals. In 2025, Scape’s technology was acquired by FlueVault

From 2020-2023, Nathan was the Vice President of Science Strategy & Communications at Vesta where he worked with diverse teams to conduct interdisciplinary research in marine carbon dioxide removal.


FlueVault

FlueVault acquired the intellectual property of Nathan’s former company, Scape. Nathan now helps guide FlueVault on their technology development.

Nathan was Founder and CEO of Scape, where he led the development of seawater-mineral reactors that permanently sequestered CO2 while producing critical metals.


Vesta

Nathan was the Vice President of Science Strategy & Communications at Vesta where he worked with diverse teams to conduct the first-ever field trials of coastal enhanced weathering.


NEXUS Impact Accelerator

Nathan co-founded the NEXUS Impact Accelerator which accelerates companies across diverse UN SDG verticals including circular manufacturing, coral farming, machine learning, biotechnology, social equity tech, and robotics.


NEXUS Futurism Group

Nathan also co-founded the NEXUS Futurism Group: a platform designed to convene leaders and curate content across industries to guide the ethical advancement in rapidly emerging technologies.


USC

As an Adjunct Professor of Environmental Studies at USC, Nathan collaborates with faculty to design curriculum that integrates environmental research, big data, environmental justice, and regenerative design principles. He is also a former Adjunct Faculty member of the Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies at Cal Poly Pomona.


JCVI

Nathan is an Adjunct Scientist at the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI) where he works with collaborators to engineer microbiomes for environmental remediation and the biosynthesis of sustainable materials.
